the person behind mewcroplastics

a bit about me:

i'm a mixed-race latiné lesbian from the u.s. who uses they/them pronouns and is currently getting their doctorate in community psychology. i have my bachelor's in research psychology and a minor in education, with a focus on teaching critical race and ethnic studies. i identify as androgynous and butch, and use the umbrella terms queer and non-binary to describe myself. i believe in decolonizing education, making science open-access, and building solidarity between and within communit(ies).

when i'm not grading for the uni class(es) i help teach or doing research for my phd, i'm probably adventuring around my city or browsing the internet

things i do for fun:

  • crochet, poorly
  • spend time outside--i love walking, hiking, backpacking, & camping
  • listen to music! favorite genres include shoegaze, shibuya-kei, twee pop, nugaze/numetal, & indie folk
  • take pictures. i have a separate page on this blog for that
  • learn about the history of art and visual culture of indigenous north & south america; specific geographic areas of interest are the pnw & andean regions
  • exlpore queer-trans history, especially lesbian and transgender histories. my personal favorite archival blog is that-butch-archivist on tumblr and my favorite digital/physical archive is the lesbian herstory archives in New York.
  • some reminders:

  • black lives matter
  • give the landback
  • free palestine
  • liberation for all (none of us are free until all of us are free)
  • if you're interested in other stuff i'm up to, check out my blog or the other stuff i post about sometimes
